Music mogul Rosemond indicted on NY murder charge

NEW YORK (AP) — Hip-hop mogul James Rosemond has been indicted in New York on a murder-for-hire charge.

Prosecutors brought the revised indictment Friday accusing Rosemond of ordering others to kill a man in the Bronx in 2009 as payback for an assault on his 14-year-old son.

The 47-year-old chief executive of New York-based Czar Entertainment is already imprisoned. He was recently convicted in federal court in Brooklyn on drug trafficking charges.

Rosemond's lawyer did not immediately return a message seeking comment.

He is behind such hits as Salt-N-Pepa's "Shoop."

Justin Bieber's "Believe"

Justin Bieber’s life has been hectic these last few weeks. Norwegian women chased him on boats. Parisian paparazzi pursued him on bicycles. In London he rocked in front of 88,000 fans at the Summertime Ball in Wembley Stadium, then days later he more than doubled that crowd, performing in front of about 200,000 at a free show in Mexico.
At yesterday's listening session for Justin's much-anticipated Believe album at Island/Def Jam's New York City offices, Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun made two points perfectly clear: Justin Bieber is a huge star and he works very very hard. The music on his official sophomore album makes another point: JayBee has grown plenty as an artist.
Many have raved about how Believe will be Justin’s coming-of-age album—his Off the Wall, his Justified. But what they fail to realize is that Michael Jackson and Justin Timberlake released those albums in their early 20s, not the fresh 18 that Bieber is now. Still, the eight months he spent crafting Believe were well spent. Bieber proves that he’s a better singer and songwriter on Believe, often injecting elements of his personal life—as on the “Billie Jean”-esque “Maria.” But more often than not, the subject matter is light. And that’s OK. There will be a time for his “Cry Me a River” or “She’s Out of My Life.”

Music fans hanker for Ray Charles hologram: poll

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - When a hologram of late rapper Tupac Shakur appeared on stage with Snoop Dogg at the recent Coachella music festival, it stunned audiences by literally bringing the performer back to life - technologically, anyway.

Reuters asked Los Angeles-based E-Poll Market Research, which surveys consumers about celebrities for Hollywood's major studios and TV networks, to pull together a list of dead celebrities who remain popular and, like Tupac, might still be big draws at a concert if only as a hologram.

Perhaps surprisingly, given his status as the King of Rock, Elvis Presley managed only a second place tie with country singer Johnny Cash. It was soul legend Ray Charles who topped the list, judged by a combination of fan appeal, audience awareness and perceptions of talent. The researchers label the overall grade an "E-Score."

John Lennon - imagine that - was fourth, and one notch below came ol' blue eyes, Frank Sinatra. Another king, this one of pop music, Michael Jackson, failed to make the top 10, but just by one notch. And while Tupac caused a sensation at Coachella, he could only muster 16th place, just behind Tammy Wynette.

A list of music performers most likely to be enjoyed by fans in an after-life hologram is below, ranked according to their "E-Score." The figures were derived from E-Poll's weekly survey of some 1,100 people ages 13 and older. Rank Celebrity E-Score

Houston Family Reality Show to Launch Bobbi Kristina Music Career?

At first glance, it seems disturbingly exploitive: Lifetime will soon air a reality show based around the family of Whitney Houston.

But sources tell TMZ the motivation behind this program isn't merely to make money off the singer's tragic death; for Cissy Houston, it's to help boost the career of her granddaughter, 18-year old Bobbi Kristina.

While believing the series will push along the family's "healing process," Cissy is mostly concerned about Bobbi, insiders say, and hopes this will be a showcase for her talents.

Look for the Houston family docu-series to feature a far more serious tone than similar programs such as Keeping Up with the Kardashians and for Whitney's sister, Patricia, to serve as the lead.

Will you tune in?
